Volunteer
Be Involved. Volunteer at the Carousel.
Someone once said…
Volunteers are love in motion.
There’s no better way to describe our amazing team of volunteers. They truly are the heart and soul of our carousel.
Over 62,000 volunteer hours have been contributed by more than 550 people. Young and old, from all walks of life, our volunteers serve in so many ways: carousel operations, café servers and cashiers, painters, carvers, gift shop staff, greeters, and more.
We host volunteer appreciation events throughout the year, which are always highly anticipated and greatly enjoyed. We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers!
Join our team and let’s bring joy!

Event Volunteer
We put on a few larger events each year. Those larger events take many more hands. Some volunteers cannot come in on a regularly scheduled basis, but really want to make an impact. These larger events are a great opportunity for just that. This can range to set up and take down of tents and tables. It can include handing out candy to kids. Each event has its own needs and we appreciate all the help we are given.
Work Parties
Work parties are non event support roles. A great example is set up and take down of decorations, often around major holidays. Once you are signed up as a volunteer you are added to our email list. We will send out needs and times as these opportunities come available. We try to reduce the amount of emails we send, but we also send emails for our day to day operational needs.
Party Assistant
The carousel is an amazing place to host meetings, parties, weddings and more. Sometimes the carousel will be rented for after hours private events. When that happens, they can request cafe, gift shop, tours, greeters and of course, to have the carousel running! Which requires an operator and two operator assistants. Floats are also greatly appreciated. While you can also sign up for the aforementioned spots, the Party Assistant directly supports our Party and Membership coordinator. This can include tackling on the fly tasks, communicating next steps to fellow volunteers, and really whatever is needed in the moment. Its another great way to be involved on the fly, and because it is after hours, it gives that schedule flexibility not offered during regular business hours.
Carver
Do you love the way our animals come to life with such detail? So do we! While we do not have an adult class, you can still sign up for carving. We will connect you with our lead carver and he can give you the process for honing your skills. We accept beginner to expert. Wednesdays are the big day that the vast majority of carvers are on site. They are friendly and apt to give good advice and guidance in this wonderful art form.
Painter
While you can sign up and get on our waiting list, without painting projects right now, we are a little slower in this area. While you wait, you can always support us in Point of Sales, Carousel Operations, Guest Assistance, and Volunteer Assistance needs. The main paining day for this crew are Mondays, once projects start up again.
