Walltha is an alternate animal, placed on the carousel when another animal needs repair or a break from service. He is a memorial for Jeffrey M. Scariano who passed away on March 18, 2018, at the age of 43, from a surfing accident in Mexico. Walltha, the Walrus represents a gentle giant in the ocean and a work of art for the Carousel. He is a perfect memorial for Jeff, whose life passions included painting and a love for surfing and the ocean. Walltha is a friendly walrus sporting a red saddle and straps. On his breastplate is the name Scariano. Medallions around the blanket contain symbols for each family member: for Jeff a surfboard, for brother Chris a $$ sign, for sister-in-law Nicole a yoga pose called Tree Pose, for mom Linda a flower, and for dad Ralph a golf club. Chris’ daughters Maddie and Lucy, who named the walrus (combining Wally and Waltha to become Walltha), are represented by a volleyball and a ballet slipper.
