Dexter the Saint Bernard is a middle row jumper who represents family, tradition, and shared adventures. With his tongue dangling out of his mouth, he seems in a hurry as he beckons the family to get to their next escapade.

Newspaper hats were made for all the kids in the family when they attended the Rose Festival in Portland. Dexter is wearing one of these jaunty newspaper hats that has a feather accent. This newspaper hat looks like the entertainment section of a Portland newspaper with headlines covering the highlights of an opera opening, a Florida heat wave, a zoo opening, the Rose Parade and a museum exhibit.

Dexter sports a satchel with a kitten peeking out. And since the family loved pressed pennies and has a collection of them, there is a trail of pressed pennies flowing from a rip in the satchel. Names on the pennies include Alyssa, Nate, Grace, Emma, Hammy, Titus, Abram, and Micah.
